Chief Executive Officer of ParaRede SGPS, S.A.

The Chief Executive Officer of ParaRede SGPS, Paulo M. Ramos, has 20 years of experience in the Information Technology industry. 

Mr. Ramos has a degree in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science and has successfully completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University, Graduate School of Business Administration, Boston, Massachusetts.

He started his career as a Systems Engineer and Software Developer at Compta, Motorola exclusive partner in Portugal, where he worked from 1983 to 1985. Between 1985 and 1987, Mr. Ramos was Systems Engineer and Project Manager at Olivetti Portugal. Afterwards, he joined Digital Equipment Portugal to be responsible for the Sales Support Group of Unix based and Networking solutions until 1989. In 1990, Mr. Ramos joined Hewlett Packard Portugal where he led a number of strategic sales initiatives in key market segments such as Telecommunications, Energy, Government and Manufacturing.

Mr. Ramos joined Compaq in 1991 as District Sales Manager, accepting the challenge of conducting and developing Compaq’s business in the Portuguese market, operating from the Headquarters of Compaq for EMEA in Munich, Germany. In September of 1993, when the Company decided to open the Portuguese subsidiary, he was appointed General Manager of Compaq Computer Portugal, Lda.

In 1999, under the leadership of Mr. Ramos, the Portuguese subsidiary of Compaq has achieved the Number 1 position in the IT industry in absolute revenue terms for the first time in Compaq’s history.

In August of 2001, Mr. Ramos was appointed Vice President, Business Critical Solutions Group for EMEA, based at the regional Headquarters located in Zurich, Switzerland, with the mission of strengthen Compaq’s position in the crucial segment of corporate business critical solutions.


In September of 2002, Mr. Ramos was appointed Executive Board Member of ParaRede SGPS, a leading Portuguese IT company, listed in the Euronext Lisbon Stock Exchange, and member of the PSI-20 index. ParaRede SGPS has a core shareholder base of institutional banks, such as Banco Espírito Santo (BES), Banco Português de Investimento (BPI), Banco Santander Central Hispano (BSCH) and Central Banco de Investimento (CBI). As part of his key responsibilities, Mr. Ramos is at Board level in charge of Sales, Marketing, Information Systems and Quality and in addition is the CEO of the companies that are part of the ParaRede Group. He has the main objective of turn around the company, bringing it to profitability and positive cash flow, after a complex restructuring process implemented over the last 12 months, where the total headcount was reduced from 900 to 300 people. About 10% of the total revenue comes from international markets, such as Spain and Brazil

In February 2003, Mr. Ramos was appointed CEO of ParaRede SGPS.
